TOKYO AUTO SALON 26 PT RED

Spontaneous trips to Japan are always the right choice. I realized that I had the time off this year to attend TAS and I just said YOLO and hopped on a flight to Haneda.

Tokyo Auto Salon has always been on my bucket list of car events to attend. People always talk about how it is massive and has just about everything Japanese car related packed into one venue. I had to go and experience it for myself.

I had the opportunity to attend earlier on a pass on Friday which I realized was so much better than attending with a general pass later as it got more crowded.

For this trip I shot with a Fujifilm X100VI, which I bought specifically for this trip (thanks again John for sourcing me one and bringing it with you!). Albeit not the best way to learn a new camera but I just went full steam and hoped for the best. You can tell the progression of how I was figuring out the settings and dealing with the fixed focal length throughout the day. Anyway lets get into it!

If you’re wondering why this post is called red…well its because its specifically for the red cars. After seeing those posts on instagram with different photographers and shooting a specific color I figure maybe I can do the same with this post.

This mini NSX NA1 was pretty cool.

A very sparkly Silvia. Big barrel VS-KF, Origin kit and red is a hard to beat combo. Would be nice to see this going absolutely hard on track one day.

Yubo’s JZX100 Crest such a classic and great to finally meet him after seeing so many videos on Night Walkers.

Beautiful BN Sports JZX110. Execution is top notch and the kit on it makes me really want to get a red 110.

Not very often do you see a drift spec R31. This was amazing to see at the Shibatire booth as it was a blend of new and old tech. Somehow feels like it would do well in competition.

Now this is a serious comp car. Naoki D1 GR86.

Another 86 but for a very different use. Replica of the car used in the Drifter movie? Not sure but a lot of people were crowded around this as Sung Kang was talking to a camera.

Impulse Levin 86 with a tidy bay and some wild carbon flares. Looks like a street N1 build inspiration.

On second thought maybe the body is all carbon fiber? Maybe I should have stopped to read the signs. Oops.

Takumi Project GR86. I like the carbon lip and hood. Not sure of the branding but I guess I should look more into it. TE37s are always a good look on any car really.

By this time I think it was 2pm and the crowds started to pour in so it was challenging to get a shot in that didnt have someone in from of the cars or I had to shoot just portions of the car. Nice Vertex hood on this 180. Makes me miss my old ones.

I lied I was able to sneak in a full shot later in the day.

Vertex Soarer. Looks like a Lang kit with a similar styled hood as the 180.

Nobody blocked this shot of the GPSports GT86 I wonder why?

F40 in red is best. OZ wheels go hard. The only thing that ruins it is the front license plate.

911 cup car in the Sachs booth. They had quite a few 911s at TAS. Always a pleasure to see.

Running in the 80s with this RE-Amemiya FC. Would love to see this blasting on the Bay Bridge with the top down at 200kmh. Also I just noticed its LHD. I guess LHD verts are not very desirable in the states so it makes sense that a clean one could be imported to Japan.

Almost as wide is this AZ1. I call it the lady bug.

M-Sports GR86 Looks much better in person vs the online pictures. A possible contender for me to go widebody down the line on the GR86.

Red R32s reminds me of that one Doriten episode for some reason.

Valenti catalog GR86 with Liberty Walk kit. Candy red is best.

And that concludes day one of TAS 26 RED cars. Hope you enjoyed it. What color will be next?
