After about a week of being annoyed by the rear tires rubbing while driving I decided it was time to trim and roll the rear fenders.

I initially masked off the areas to prepare to roll the rear fenders. I wanted to make sure that I was not going to overdo it with the roll and only roll the sections that would be a potential problem.

Got the eastwood fender roller out and got to rolling. It maybe took about 5 or 6 pulls on the fender roller to get the lip sitting nice and flat. Toyota put on a little fender lip caulking to help clean up the fender and keep the tire from catching on the lip but after the first few rolls it took the caulking right off. I peeled off the remaining caulking and repainted that section that was rolled.

Afterwards I cut a notch at the rear side of the fender to help with clearance for the tire under full compression. I left the rear tab notch in place to help hold on the fender garnish. The tire does clear now but my main issues are with the fender garnish that covers this section. The plastic still rubs when I reinstalled it even after trimming it quite considerably. I feel like this will be an issue with it in the long run and maybe I will need to get some fender flares to remedy this. I’ll be in the market for some clean looking flares in the future.

I got a bit lower happy with the coilovers and decided to lower it 10mm from its previous height. But it sat way too low and I would run into more rubbing issues. Although it looks pretty cool I decided to raise it back up 5mm to make the overall drop slightly lower than my previous settings.

The car looks much better without having any tire to fender gap now. Happy with how it looks now but I think I will ultimately be going with over fenders.
